Mr. Bubbles

Mr. Bubbles is a little wide-eyed goldfish that was suddenly flushed down from the boxed-in life of his old aquarium one fateful day. Now he searches for answers—and a place to stay for the night—in a perilous journey through the unknown world of the sewers. 
Character design inspired by the style of late Hanna-Barbera and early Cartoon Network shows.

We were tasked to develop a protagonist character with a backstory for a fictional RPG video game aimed at a younger demographic (6–12 years). 
The concept of a little goldfish being mistakenly flushed down the toilet and adventuring through an uncharted world in the sewers initially came as a throwaway idea, but started to show potential for story and world-building the more we sat on it.
